The true economic benefits of protecting water and enhancing watersheds in BC was an area previously understudied. Luckily, that’s changed.

In May 2021, Delphi Group released its report, Working for Watersheds, which found that protecting water and enhancing watersheds:

  • contributed $5 billion to the Province and supported 48,000 jobs in 2019, and
  • could contribute $1.3 billion more and create 13,000 more jobs by 2030 if $100 million was invested annually for 10 years (versus only $767 million at current investment levels).
