BC restructures natural resource sector with new Ministry of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship

The Province of BC announced that a new Ministry of Land, Water and Resource Stewardship has been created, with the Hon. Josie Osborne as the new Minister of Land, Water and Natural Resource Stewardship and the Minister Responsible for Fisheries. With a budget of $92 million in 2022-23 and a staff of about 1,230.

The restructuring includes some other changes. Sections under the former Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development have moved to several other ministries, including the newly-named Ministry of Forests. Rural development will be under the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is also newly named, changing from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries.
