Photo: Zita Botelho.Today the BC announced Government and the B.C.-First Nations Water Table announced a $100-million investment in healthy watersheds and the launch of engagement on a new co-developed watershed security strategy intentions paper to help ensure safe, clean water is available to communities in BC. This follows news last week regarding the inclusion of $100 million for the Watershed Security Fund in last week’s Budget 2023. From the BC Watershed Security Coalition: “Watershed groups are celebrating the BC Government’s announcement of $100 million for the Watershed Security Fund in today’s Budget 2023. The provincial budget states that this investment will “enable projects that benefit a range of provincial priorities, including wild salmon health, clean drinking water, biodiversity, flood resilience, economic opportunities, and reconciliation with First Nations”.
